- If anyone asks, I like to tell them that I'm a historian with a particular interest in science, technology and industry.
Sometimes I claim to be a writer and photographer, but that's more a statement of ambition than of fact.
I've been working on my PhD at the Bristol Business School (the title is The Economic Foundations of Social Distinction: The Countess Waldegrave, 1839-1879, but the subject matter isn't as boring as this might suggest), but I've no idea when (or if) I'll be able to finish it.
